The needles are extremely thin (0.2–0.3 mm) — much thinner than an injection needle. With the aid of guide tubes you barely feel the insertion. You may briefly feel a dull, warm or tingling sensation — this is called Dé Qi and indicates the right point has been reached. The vast majority of patients say: “It was much better than I expected.”
Most Dutch health insurers reimburse acupuncture from the supplementary insurance. The compulsory own-risk does not apply to supplementary coverage. Practice ter Horst is a member of the NVA, which is required by most insurers for reimbursement. Check your policy or view the reimbursement overview.
